Not often do you guys see me in flats, not that I don't like them but I never could find a fit that were complimenting.  So I decided to experiment with a non-expensive pair to test out the waters and I think this has created a tiny monster.  I now have a list of 'flats to buy' -- like I need another thing to be obsessed with.

How easy is it to succumb to the "darker side" come the change of seasons from summer to fall.  Packing away all of our brights for the cold temps, I know majority of us have fallen victim to this "rule" plenty of times.

How to pull off a bright fall look -- (1) choose shades/patterns that complement each other or the same color with a variation of shades  (2) pile on more color -- shoes or accessories, choose one.  There aren't too many occasions where matchy/matchy is ok, but this an exception. To keep the look from being too overwhelming, add a dose of neutral throughout -- I added a white button up, and neutral shoes and clutch to offset the bolder hues.  Risky but worthwhile.

Infuse some color into your fall wardrobe and shine bright.

Sequins does not necessarily have to mean -- decked out, evening look, over the top, etc etc.  What's wrong with a little shimmer during the day? Absolutely, nothing.  To keep my look more "daytime" I paired with casual tops and one of my huge obsessions of fall, beanies.

I am all for pairing unexpected items together to create an unconventional look, it comes as no surprise, playing by rules is not for me.  Creating your own is more risk-taking and way more fun!

My idea of making sequins less of a statement and a tad more on the casual side is by pairing with a low-key top -- tank, tee, sweater or sweatshirt.  Minimal accessorizing for a daytime look, with sequins being such a standout piece, outfit add-on's should be kept a neutral tone.  Ankle booties over a pump add a little edge; however, either will do.

All in all, to keep your look from being predictable --  keep away from being too matchy/matchy and trying to keep the same color palette throughout the entire outfit.

This weather is all over the place, warm one minute, cold the next.  One minute I'm bundled up the next baring the legs.  Which is probably why I have been fighting colds on and off.  I think Maryland is trying to skip out on Fall.

When I had the opportunity to choose from Baukjen's collection, it was tough to narrow it down to one item but this cobalt maxi wrap dress was a true beauty and absolute stunner. The satin detailing on the shoulders and the slit gave a rather ordinary maxi a true touch of elegance.

After receiving several notes and comments regarding 'how to' style and wear certain items or how to pull off a look, I have decided to start incorporating how to's on The Daileigh.

It comes as no surprise that my first is mix & match.  I love to incorporate a surprise element into my outfits.  Everyone has a different method to this madness but the key for me is finding a common color and building your look surrounding that, rather it is a subtle or bold color, it is a good way to start.

Mustard was the obvious choice for this outfit.  With the many colors in this sweater and burgundy heels, I leveled out this color wheel with neutrals, olive and accessorizing with a black clutch to keep the colors the main focus without being too overwhelming.  The little details count too -- burgundy zipper on the clutch and the lighter heel on the pump help tie the look together.

It can be very tricky but definitely worth trying! Continue to send me emails and leaving comments with suggestions, hopefully I can lend you a little guidance.

It's crazy when you go shopping just for the item(s) to sit in your wardrobe, I've had this blazer for well over a year and I am ashamed to say I have finally taken off the tags and put it to use.  Terrible, I know.
